Safeguarding and welfare, before everything else

How we keep your students safe in Porto — the people, the protocols and the paperwork, all open to your inspection before you commit.
Reliability in every placement

Our safeguarding framework

Built to UK college expectations: named accountability, vetted people and places, and protocols that are written down, dated and shared before any student travels.

A named Designated Safeguarding Lead

One qualified safeguarding professional owns welfare end-to-end — vetting, protocols and incident response. You meet them before your first cohort.

FAQ

The safeguarding questions coordinators ask us
Who is responsible for safeguarding during a placement?
Our named Designated Safeguarding Lead holds overall responsibility, with a trained coordinator on the ground for every cohort. Roles, contact routes and escalation steps are set out in writing and agreed with your college before travel.
What checks do your staff and employers undergo?
All student-facing staff hold criminal-record certificates (the Portuguese equivalent of a DBS check). Host employers are visited, vetted and re-approved annually, and accommodation is risk-assessed every season. The checklists are yours to inspect.
What happens in an emergency?
A 24/7 emergency line answered by our on-site coordinator, a written escalation protocol agreed with your college, and immediate notification of college and parents. Hospital, consular and insurance details travel in every student's welcome pack.
How do you support students day to day?
Airport pick-up, a full induction day, daily welfare check-ins, workplace visits and an evening contact routine. Small problems get found early — that's the whole design.
Can we see your policies before committing?
Yes — the full safeguarding policy, insurance summary and vetting checklist are shared as standard during procurement. We would worry about any provider that hesitated.
How do you handle student data?
ICO-registered and UK GDPR-compliant. Student information is shared only with named staff who need it, held securely, and deleted on an agreed schedule after the programme ends.
